This DIY (or repurposed) bar cart came to be after I could not find one I loved enough to purchase. I had been looking for a bar cart to use in our courtyard for quite sometime. They had either not been my style or would not be able to withstand the California summer heat.

Repurposing a tiered cart to a DIY bar cart
I love the look and functionality of these rolling carts you find for sale at most craft stores. They come in a variety of colors and are priced at $30, which tricks my mind into thinking I need ALL the colors. This larger size cart caught my eye and inspired me to repurpose it as a DIY bar cart. It comes with a higher price tag ($50) but it is super versatile. This cart is the perfect size for entertaining and at $50 it’s still a steal compared to your average bar cart!
After we assembled the cart, I felt like it needed a little more character. Using my Cricut, I cut vinyl to resemble star patterned tiles and stuck them on individually. The cut file is included at the end of this post.
The tiers have a mesh bottom, which isn’t super stable for open liquids. So we cut a thin piece of MDF to fit the tier that may house liquids for more support. Eventually I will cut a board to place in each tier, but I only had a bit of scrap wood left. I also painted the silver accents around the tires gold.
I love how the “tile” turned out! The whole look works perfectly in our courtyard. If you make your own DIY bar cart, please share it with me! I would love to see it!
