For our latest DIY, I wanted to merge two of our favorites: The Nightmare Before Christmas and plants. This is a simple DIY planter perfect for Halloween or if you are a big fan– year round!
Here is what you will need:
- Terra-cotta planters
- Spray paint (white, light blue, green)
- Paint markers (I like these, affiliate link, here) if you are going to draw on the faces OR vinyl and Cricut cutter
- Also it’s even easier if you purchase and download some Nightmare Before Christmas faces from Etsy. (Totally optional, they are very easy to draw/paint). Comment below if you want me to show you some of my favorite downloads and I will be happy to share.
I cut the vinyl for Sally out in black and white and then used red and blue paint marker to color in her lips and nose. Jack and Oogie boogie were easy because they could be cut out in black vinyl. Excuse the not so great pictures, I only had a small window of time to work on these and chose the evening time (not ideal for lighting).
If you are drawing faces, check out YouTube for some great tutorials (the kids and I had fun trying this!).
For the plants in the planters, I found those purple ones at Lowe’s and they are called sweet potato vines. They are trailing plants so they will have a nice drape after awhile.
With love,
Shahla
