What could be more fun than disco conversation hearts?! Disco balls are still having their moment and I am here for it! I wanted to find a way to incorporate a disco theme into our Valentine crafts. For these disco conversation hearts, I used paper mâché hearts (we have turned these into pinatas and sequined them in the past) and my Cricut machine to create mirrored mosaics. Even if you do not have a Cricut machine you can do this craft! I have two different methods that I will show you in this post. If you do have a Cricut machine, I have included a link to the cut file to make for an even easier disco conversation heart craft!

Here is what you need if you have a Cricut machine:
If you do not have a Cricut machine you can either cut out 1 cm squares or purchase this mosaic vinyl (or this holographic version). The mosaic vinyl is one sheet (silver squares on clear vinyl) and would be easier to work with instead of a bunch of little squares. Full disclosure: I tried the square cutting method for the disco conversation hearts and found that I cannot cut a straight line! Since my squares weren’t perfect, I decided to stick them down as one would with bricks or subway tiles. It seems to hide imperfections a bit.
First, I painted the paper mâché hearts with white paint. I traced the lid on the back of the mosaic grid and cut out the heart shape. The excess vinyl was weeded out for easier transfer. Then once the paint was dry, I used transfer tape to adhere the tiles on the heart. I added a single row of squares on the side of the lid and a double row on the heard side. Finally, I cut out conversation heart style sayings and placed them on the top. You can purchase sticker letters at any craft store.
They turned out super cute and were much easier than I imagined!

Let me know if you make these disco conversation hearts, I would love to see them!
