July is right around the corner and this is the perfect time to think about entertaining with these 4th of July grazing boards. I am partnering with CraftCuts (they gifted me these star-shaped boards) to bring you two different 4th of July grazing board ideas. Grazing boards are definitely having a moment- they are easy to create and I love that you can tailor them to various food and party themes! Today we are creating a dessert and a traditional charcuterie board. Since these boards are for Independence Day, I will be incorporating some patriotic flair!
CraftCuts is a small business that creates custom craft letter and shape cuts in a variety of materials (wood, plastic, foam, etc.). I found them about 7 years ago when I was looking for a wooden monogram to put above my son’s crib (this was before jaw dropping Pinterest-inspired nurseries were the norm!). A few years later, we worked together to create this awesome Star Wars theme. I love how you can customize everything to your preferences and budget on the Craft Cuts site. For example, I wanted star-shaped boards that we could use individually and communally for 4th of July grazing boards. Using Craft Cuts, I was able to order the specific size (length and thickness) I wanted.
To prep your boards- wash them with soap and water. Dry the boards immediately (do not allow to air dry!) and then treat them with mineral oil. Do this a few times to make food safe. If you still question them- use parchment paper and treat cups to house food items.
Dessert Board
The smaller star was used to create this dessert board. I love the size of this smaller board as it is also perfect for individual charcuterie boards. The board is 14 inches long and ½ inch thick. Looking back, I would not have ordered mine as thick to help with storing the boards when not in use. However, the thicker board does make a bold statement that is sure to get your guests’ attention!
For the dessert version of the 4th of July grazing board I found a lot of red, white and blue candies at the store and these adorable hand decorated cookies. You can also incorporate traditional candies like red licorice, cinnamon bears, marshmallows and chocolate with blue wrappers. When you are done, sprinkle your 4th of July grazing board with some festive patriotic sprinkles, think of it as edible confetti!
Charcuterie Board
The larger star measured 23 inches long and again ½ an inch thick. This is the perfect size for a traditional charcuterie board. I tore parchment paper into pieces to cover the board and protect it from being stained by berries/cheese. Start arranging your charcuterie 4th of July grazing board by placing the larger-sized items in the middle. I also grouped items by color to make sure the patriotic red, white and blue theme was present throughout the board. A biscuit cutter is sharper than a cookie cutter and great for cutting your cheese and watermelon into star shapes!
Our shopping list for this 4th of July grazing board was less extensive than our traditional charcuterie boards (I was trying to keep this one more kid-friendly):
- Watermelon
- Strawberries
- Raspberries
- Blueberries
- Blackberries
- Grapes
- Salami
- White cheddar cracker cuts
- Sliced provolone (to make the stars)
- Coconut slices
- Blueberry covered goat cheese (this is from Trader Joe’s and a favorite here!)
- Manchego
- Water crackers
- Cracker crisps
I love how both 4th of July grazing boards turned out! What do you think? Also, check out Craft Cuts and use TREEHOUSE10 to receive a ten percent discount on your order!
