Warmer temperatures means getting outside more; whether it’s eating alfresco or watching a movie under the stars! Outdoor summer movie nights are some of my kids’ favorite memories. My goal this summer is to up our movie nights with fun themes that may include special crafts, snacks and more. If you are looking for a fun way to kick off summer movie nights outdoors, check out this post where I used an inflatable pool for the perfect cozy movie night set up. In this post, I am going to be sharing all the details of our Pirate Night where we watched Pirates of the Caribbean and I set up a fun pirate ambiance with a feast and added a few crafts.

Summer Movie Night Must Haves
One of the best things we made a little over 5 years ago was a long floor-seated picnic table using a tabletop from IKEA and legs from Amazon. It’s so easy to make. All you need is a drill and you’ve got fun floor seating. We use this table for parties, picnics and more! We purchased the Linnmon tabletop but it looks like they may have discontinued the longer size. Check their site as they have other tabletops available.
The little rod on top is fun to add lights, lanterns, etc. and is on sale right now! There is also a gold over the table rod that I have and use when I need a lighter color. I purchased those mini lanterns from the dollar (ish) section at Target. I borrowed that bright Turkish rug from my dad and added some candles, gold and plastic skulls. I used coupe style glasses from IKEA for salad and individual sized cutting boards for kid-friendly charcuterie boards.
I found this treasure chest from Michael’s along with this DIY ship for kids. Incorporating crafts into movie nights is my absolute fave! I also found some fake coins and pearls from The Dollar Tree to add to the treasure chests. The glass candlesticks were also from dollar tree. The plastic skulls were left over from Halloween and added a fun touch. This would also be cool for an Indiana Jones themed night.
No matter what you do, big or small, your kids will remember the feeling of being able to stay out at night and watch a movie under the stars. So don’t stress too much about all the details!!
