DIY: Sequin Hangers

shahla · June 1, 2016 · 2 Comments

If you spend some time on Etsy, it will probably take less than a minute before you see something displayed beautifully on a sequin hanger. Even all over Pinterest, I see them being used adorably as decoration in little girls’ rooms.

I set out on making some for my daughter’s dress up rack. I shared the DIY sequin dress up rack post a few months back (check it out here, if you’d like). The glammed up hangers were a great addition.

I ordered the wooden hangers here. I bought the sequin trim from a local craft store. I had purchased a thinner (width-wise) one, but thankfully my mom gave me a big bag of thicker trim (otherwise it would have taken forever!). I used a hot glue gun to secure the trim onto the hanger.

This is probably the easiest DIY as you need to find a spot to start gluing and then wrap the trim, gluing as you go. I started by holding the trim perpendicular to the end of the hanger and the gluing down the edges on the underside of the hanger. Keep gluing and wrapping until you get to the other side. And then cut the sequin trim (give a little extra trim just in case) and glue down. Again, I glued it underneath the hanger so you can’t see any unevenness. Safety tip: watch out as the trim is thin and the hot glue is super hot and can burn.

Voila! That easy! These make adorable baby shower gifts or can be perfect as part of the decorations. Also, I love them for bridal shower gifts.

Happy crafting!

With love,

Shahla
