If you’ve been following for awhile you know how much I love these oversized DIY photo strips that I made for my daughter’s thirteenth birthday. It’s such a fun nostalgic way to display collections of photos. For her last birthday I wanted to make smaller ones that I could pepper in with the larger ones for a bigger impact. Plus the smaller DIY photo strips are the perfect size for a bulletin board or framed a a gift.
How to Create your DIY Photo Strips
I created these to be an 8×10 template that you can then cut down to size. There are six photo strips per page. In order to access the template you need to have a Canva account. This is free and you’ll be able to drag and drop your photos once uploaded onto Canva. I experimented with colored photos and also bringing my photos down to grayscale. You can do either, it’s more about the look you are trying to achieve. To add your own photos; upload from your phone or computer. Then drag the photos you uploaded to the photo strips frame in the template. Double click a photo to edit by cropping, repositioning or changing the color. To make grayscale you can choose a filter when editing your photo. I chose different mono filters depending on the picture. You can also copy the page to print more photo strips. Once you are done adding your photos you can download your file and print either at home or through Walgreens/CVS. I found that printing at home didn’t yield the results I wanted (photo’s weren’t as crisp).
I made this frame for my husband and picked a collection of photos from the kids’ baseball and softball seasons. My husband coached both kids through the years so I thought this would be a meaningful gift.
This photo strip template is perfect for scrapbooks, a fun centerpiece, valentine’s and more! You can access the template here. These are for personal use only and not to copied or distributed.
With love,
Shahla
