When I purchased this Hearth and Hand dollhouse, I knew I would be decorating it for all seasons (including Halloween of course!). If I am being totally honest, I purchased the dollhouse for myself and then my six year old convinced me it made more sense to give the dollhouse to her. Much to my husband’s relief, I agreed. Apparently he thought it was super weird for his grown wife to have a dollhouse and even a bit creepy in our room. I guess I can see his point! Haha!
We had fun decorating the dollhouse for Christmas last year and it was a fun addition to our decor (I kept it next to the Christmas tree in the family room).
This year, I sought out to find decorations to add to the dollhouse. My daughter’s room has a fun reading area that she wanted to transform into a “spooky” area. I used a lot of Halloween decorations I already had and moved them around to make them feel new!
For the dollhouse I went to some local craft stores (Michael’s and Joann) and looked at their fairy garden supplies. They come out with seasonal-themed items. I also bought some mini faux pumpkins and garland from the floral department.
I cut the bats using my Cricut machine and found those foam stickers in storage. We also added the letter stickers to say EEK (we had one that said BOO, but little brother took that). And we made the house number ’31’ for a little more of that Halloween feeling!
The best thing about decorating this dollhouse is the ability to repurpose things for decor…like the black and white ribbon for making wreath bows and the black ribbon I wrapped around the balcony and porch. Both were from our Boo baskets from last year.
It is a little much, I know, but it calms me! I already bought hay bales and scarecrows for our Thanksgiving makeover.
With love,
Shahla
